Help with clutch pedal....Confused.
I am having issues with the clutch pedal in my wifes Challenger T/A.....The pedal wants to stay to the floor when pressed on....I have checked the Z-bar and fork and it all seems ok....I had to put a spring under the dash to pull the pedal up (The original spring is still there I beleive that one helps to assist pushing down)....Can anyone tell me what actually pushes the pedal up? ...THANKS

I'm not a mechanic but I will guess the pressure plate. Is the clutch slipping or is the pedal staying down the only problem?
I said "Don't look Ethel, but it was to late."

The clutch is not slipping............I think you are correct, I think it needs a pressure plate.

Maybe I'm confused. Doesn't a spring brings the clutch pedal back up?

Im not entirely sure but I don't understand why there would be a spring to assist it going down.rr6pak wrote:Maybe I'm confused. Doesn't a spring brings the clutch pedal back up?

The large over-center spring that is connected to the clutch pedal has a primary function to assist foot pressure to depress the clutch. The original three fingered style pressure plates required a lot of pressure to release a total of about 3100lbs of combined spring pressure. The fact that the clutch is not slipping would indicate to me, you are likely running a diaphragm or other type of pressure plate that requires the removal of the over-center spring and/or pedal height is set too low.
