Windage Tray

Post by beepx2 » Sun Jan 13, 2008 2:39 pm

Can someone explain to me what a windage tray does and how it's mounted in the oil pan?
Thanks.

Windage tray keeps the oil off the spinning crank, reducing parasitic loss. It was standard on Hipo big blocks.

On big bocks, its sandwiched between the oil pan and block using an extra gasket.

On small blocks, it is mounted off the main bearing cap studs.
