OK having problems with trim going back on

This probabely will seem like a dumb questions to you guys but I took the trim off my canopy top since it had only one side and now I have both sides and they just don't seem to hook or want to stay in place. All the plastic pieces are intact and the boomerrang rivet as I call it I just don't know how to get it hooked back on right.

They are supposed to just snap on with a little tap of the palm. Are you sure the plastic clips are the right ones? Have you tried sliding a loose clip inside the molding from it's end to see how it fits?

Well ya they are the orginal clips and maybe the plastic ones are worn out but it still has the metal end ones that I would think hold the ends tighter.
