will 68-73 8 3/4 rear end work under a 72 SSP?

I am not having luck finding an 8 3/4 rear end for my RR clone. I can, probably find a 68-70 B Body rear axle alot quicker. Will that work on a 72 Satellite ? Also, I can certainly find a peg leg 8 3/4 rear end. It isn't alot of trouble to change that to a Sure grip, is it? Just buy a unit and put it in, right?..............oh, gotta check lash and all.

There are a few tricks a skilled mechanic can do to make one work. But could not be worth the trouble for the average mechanic.

If the width of the rear end is the same, all you would have to do is relocate the spring perch, wich requires welding.

If every thing matches, tou may have to change the inner axles to match up your bolt patteren.

If you are using a strong engine and trans, It is best to order a aftermarket rear made to fit your car!
