Sidemirrors in 72, which one?

Post by 6o4o » Sat Nov 10, 2007 1:09 pm

I am restoring my 72 RR but also have a 72 Satellite. I just have a driver side mirror and was wondering what mirror my 72 RR has. The one on the Satellite is the same, but I broke it off when moving the car around (still could kick myself for this!). The mirror part is very flat, it doesn't look like the other aerodynamic ones that you can buy everywhere and also new. It's also not remote control, on none of the cars. Was this mirror the standart mirror and was it original on a 72 RR GTX or was that one maybe replaced?

thank you
72 RR GTX, No. matching 440, 68 727, body TX9, B5 interior, got doorsticker, but no buildsheet
72 Satellite 318-Auto, all No.matching, with buildsheet

Both cars tasting now swiss cheese ;)

that's just a standard non-remote mirror...the racing mirrors were an option and remote-controlled...that's what i know of 71 so i'm sure 72 was the same

so the RR also came wth the standart mirrors?

but how comes you never see such a standart mirror on ebay? only the racing mirrors.. I need a standart one for the Satellite since I broke it off... bummer...

Rarely does any one look for or keep standard mirrors. It will be hard finding one.

i think i've actually seen some on ebay recently...most need re-chromed, or maybe just a LOT of polishing :P
