Rather Bitter, Sweet Day today!

Post by 71GTX » Sat May 05, 2007 1:55 am

Officially, I had my retirement ceremony today. It was a good ceremony, I told all to keep it informal, as that is how I am. I got my MSM, Retirement Certificate, awards, blah, blah, blah....All Good Stuff! I asked for one thing....as I was a SAC Trained Killer when I was active duty Air Force and worked with the RC-135 program, I asked to have a US flag flown on one of the jets that I had worked on as a active duty weenie. It was done as well as having the Alaska flag flown on one of our KC-135R model jets. I heard that the pics of them flying the flag on the jets are coming my way as well....Too damn cool! One of my buddies that I work with, made a shadow box to fit both flags and made it out of Birch Wood cut here in the state.

Then....

We officially closed the deal on our house. It now officially belongs to someone else as of Monday....it was weird coming "home" to a house that aint ours....STRANGE FEELING!

Grats!! Feels good, doesn't it? I retired (20yrs 8d) back in October '06. I don't regret it a bit, nor do I regret a single day of those 20+ years!! However, I work more now than I did my last 5 years (as a MSgt for 3 of those) active duty!! LOL!! I get paid a whole lot more too, though... :D

Grats again!!

I'm jealous! I have 8 years left, and the next 9 months of it will be here in lovely Iraq.

Congrats!
