Accent stripes
My fender tag reads V7X="Longitudal Black Paint Accent Stripes", My car abiously does not have them, it was painted in 1989, My Question is if I wanted to put them back is it really black paint or a sticker?
Also does the "440" logo belongs right on top of the fender turning signals.
Thanks, Steve

V7X is the code for the painted pinstripes that follow the character line along the side of the car and around the wheel openings. Yes, those were paint and were standard on '71 GTXs.
Your car wouldn't have had the engine callouts above the marker lights. Those were on air grabber hood cars.

oh,...The reason why I am asking all this questions is because I want to add a couple of things to this car...
A. stripes across hood and fender
B. rear spoiler
C. orange and black exhaust tips
D. black section on the rear bumper around my tail lights
The ONLY REASON I want to do this is because my engine is not the original 440, this engine is a 70'......Bruce, what is your opinion, Thanks Again

My opinion? Let's see, I have a 383 4-speed, standard hood Road Runner that came with A/C and radio delete. Now it's a 440+6 4-speed car with an air grabber hood and no air. I also added the exhaust tips.
I might be biased, but I made my car what I always wanted it to be. It's YOUR car, enjoy it! Of course, my choice was made easier because, just like your car, my numbers engine was long gone...
None of those options you mention are anything that couldn't be undone in the future if someone really wanted to.

Well, after referring to Galen, near as I can tell, the transverse tape stripe would have been a V9X code... X is for black of course.
As for vendors, there's our own AZ Nick's, check the "Endorsed Vendors" section for links to his site, and of course, Dante's. There are always Year One and Paddock, but you're paying top prices and big shipping charges with those guys.
Better to build a relationship with someone like Nick or Dante's where they'll know you by name!
Do you hang out at Moparts at all? Vendors get their reputation built or burnt on that site all the time. It's a good place to find out the "dirt" on vendors you want to avoid and also ones who are on the up-and-up.

Yup, the hood to fender stripes were coded V9_ and IIRC were available in black, white, and gold. The hood pinstripes were V21 (only on standard performance hoods like you have) and could be combined with the V9 stripe (the V21 went on top of the V9). I've never seen the rear bumper and valance blackout stripes coded on the fender tag separately (they're part of the road runner decor package A87), and I do not recall ever seeing a GTX that came with these from the factory.
For body stripes, I'd go with Performance Car Graphics (based on my personal positive experience with them).

Mine came with "V9X Hood/Fender Tape Stripe" according to the window sticker. Also found on build sheet, line 2, block K "stripe" , block "1st".
There are 22 stripes on each side, in pairs of two, 10 (five rows of two) on the hood, 12 (six rows of two) on the fender. 21 of the 22 are identical in size, but the aft stripe on the bottom row (on the fender) different. It is cut angular to follow the break line between the fender and wheel well.
Bottom line, as others have said...build YOUR car the way YOU want it, after all it is YOURS!

Not trying to hi-jack the thread but I thought this might be a good time to ask. Are these stripes factory?? They go over the wheel wells and the roof along the body and continue down the upper 1/4's.
1971 Satellite Sebring Plus - EV2 / V1W / P6XW Not very nice but it is still wearing original paint and hose clamps!!

Yup, those are factory, that's the V6_ stripe I believe is standard on SSPs1carcrazyguy wrote:Not trying to hi-jack the thread but I thought this might be a good time to ask. Are these stripes factory?? They go over the wheel wells and the roof along the body and continue down the upper 1/4's.
