Congrats on the new purchase!

I have a question on the black and white interior. Should the headliner and c-pillar covers be black or white? -I would think white, but in my car which also has the B/W interior, it's black!!

My car has white pillar covers. The only things I recall being black in the interior are the seatbelts, carpet, console, dash, steering column and steering wheel.

finallly a 71

Post by 1971SSP » Fri Sep 01, 2006 2:51 am

Very nice find, and a 383...I love how it says 383 on the fenders. One nice aspect of having a Satellite, is few at shows have Satellite's. So many are cloned. I was at the Woodward cruise a couple weeks back, and had the only 71 SSP in all the area's I was at. I was cruising along Woodward slowly, and I could hear people talking to each other, saying things like 'hey, its not a roadrunner, its a (then they read the emblems real slow) Saaateellite Seeebring Plus'...lol....its nice having something different, and showing the public that ever loop bumper wasn't a RM or RS VIN 440, with all the bells & whistles. The plain janes are important too.

Good luck with the car...

For sure...i don't think anyone around where i was from ever dealt with a satellite...it's hard to explain to them how it worked back in the day...i get a lot of that has to be a charger, or hey look at that cuda LOL then they read the tag up in the window at shows, ya know...what the hell is a satellite?

About the only thing I plan to do is either put a RR hood on the car. OR if money permits later I will do the Stinger Airgrabber conversion. But I don't plan on have any Road Runner emblems anywhere on the car. Maybe the bird in the grill with NOT written with a sharpie over it.

satellite

LOL@ NOT to replace the bird! You know, there is a guy on ebay selling a "Satellite" grill embelm that was made for the low grade 71 Satellite (as Bruce pointed out)....too bad they didn't put those on all the Satellite's, it would look pretty cool.

Again, good luck with it, no matter what you decide to do.

Actually, the 71 baseline coupes got a grille emblem that just said "Plymouth". It's about 11" long, and rare enough that many people don't even know they exist.

weird it is

Post by 1971SSP » Mon Sep 04, 2006 6:03 pm

Never heard that, I'm with Scott, I'd like to see a "Plymouth" grille emblem. So they offered three different emblems? Most being the red/white/blue. The red/white/blue is cool, but a Satellite or Plymouth emblem would look better...but if things were reversed, I'd be saying how great a red/white/blue emblem would be, LOL>...

Funny how things worked back then. My 71 came with a argent silver grille, it was a late production car and received the 72 version.

I have some extra satellite scripts if you need for your car......you can
have a set of the "Satellite Sebring" emblems.....

And also I need a part identified....what are the "bar" emblems for in the
bottom left corner of the picture....for Seats? door panels maybe?

Does anyone know...they are smaller than the grill bars that I have...

good luck with your car...and pm me with your address if you want the
emblems....scott

Back in the olden days I had a 71 383 4 speed SSP that I got from the orginal owner it did not have the callouts. I have only seen one other with them. A 383 SSP is a pretty rare bird. Nice car.
