71-72' Plymouth 2-dr Splash shields

Post by 72RoadRunnerGTX » Thu Jan 14, 2010 1:33 am

I sent Jim Fillmore at Detroit Muscle Technologies, LLC a set of splash shields from my restoration project last year in hopes that he may have interest in reproducing them. Learned that not only was he already interested he was just waiting to get his hands on a decent set to reproduce. Detroit Muscle Technologies, LLC also makes body gasket sets and the AC/non AC heater box reseal kits for these and other mopars. So look what came in the mail today, with new stainless steel clips no less. Note the front bumper bracket splash shield, unique to 71-72' Plymouth 2-door B-bodies.

Do these "splash shields" go behind the front wheels inside the fenders to shield the door hinges?

Jim is a good guy, great gaskets, fit like NOS. I ordered some things from him a few years ago, and he hand delivered them (I live close to his work place). These new items look nice. :D

"Do these "splash shields" go behind the front wheels inside the fenders to shield the door hinges?"

The splash shields covering the door hinge area are molded plastic/ABS, not what these are.

The new splash shields will be replacing these cleaned-up originals at the locations pictured.

I'll plug DMT. I used their gasket kit to restore my AC/heater box. it was perfect! I'll be ordering the rubber boot and the rest of the gaskets for the car soon.

I sent my splash sheilds to Jim in June so he can remake them. Not bashing Jim, probably busy, I know I have, but I haven't gotten my originals back. Tried several times to contact him through another site via e-mail and phone calls, but nothing. I will be calling him now again. :)

For what it's worth, I had sent my stuff to him back in April of last year and told him not to hurry as I didn't need them any time soon. As in past dealings with Jim, he followed up on this on his own. I'm sure you will see your stuff soon.

i ordered and installed this summer, and the fitment was great! my only downside and you can see it in the first post is this kit only comes with 2 of the "big clips" instead of 6. PIA for those of us who did not have these originally
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol
