You want mileage? Well, then go with the six barrel setup once again, cuz just puttin' around you'll only be running on the center fuel-sippin' 2 barrel. Yeah, that's it, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Don't forget the Eldebrock carbs--similar to the Carters.

Landon: Looks like you & I are in the same mindset as to our application. The TQ set up definately gives you the best of both worlds. It's super tame when you take it easy, but really SCREAMS when you kick it. It's amazing!

thanks a lot...i'm gonna have to try and find one on ebay and see about a rebuild kit...hopefully the linkage and everything will all work without too much change...are the chokes on the thermoquads operated by the heat off the intake, electrical maybe? right now, it's just manual...i kinda hate messing with that, but it works i guess. in my truck there's a tube that goes from the exhaust up to the air cleaner, but i have an aftermarket air cleaner in the satellite. thanks again guys

Yeah a spread bore is big help in mileage and performance. I have a 73 intake with a 750 SB DblPmper sitting in storage. I almost sold it on ebay. But that carb/intake with the 484/284 prplshft I was getting 20 mpg with the 4 spd ( hiway). Considering this 750 squarebore vac sec with the 455/272 shaft isn't getting that with the 5 spd- I think I'll be doing a swap here.

HOLY COW!!! with those racecar jets in that carb on my car I'm lucky to get 10 usually more like 7 or 8...mos def gonna change!!! so a thermoquad off a small block would work on a hipo 440? If so, there were a few on ebay...one wsa already rebuilt for 20 some dollars but had a day left

There were only two CFM ratings for TQs that I know of. 850 and 1000. The 850 works just fine because the secondaries only feed as much air as the engine needs. So even though it is rated at 850- if the engine only need 725, that is all the TQ will give it.

Oh BTW, my carb is an 850 cfm not 750- holley spread bore..
Just for an Idea it uses #62 jets in the primary side, and #85's in the secondary. So staying out of the secondaries, yo can see it isn't being fed a huge amount. Plus the velocity of the A/F charge helps things too.

okay guys...found a thermoquad for a mopar...rebuilt...tested on a roadrunner...clean and looks really good and supposedly works great...will a thermoquad fit on a 69 intake manifold, or do they make an adapter if it doesn't...thanks! :D

72 was the first year for the thermobog- it is a spread bore , so you will need an adapter- which I have a few floating around. The BEST thing to do is use the correct manifold for it, and the adapters screw-up the flow.

Okay guys, well...I'm gonna take a trip to the race shop tomorrow after work...there's a diaphram for the secondaries...when you press on the linkage for it, it makes a plunger sound like maybe it's not good??? I figured I'd ask them about it and maybe get a new one...I had to get the regular diaphram not too long ago...was unaware of another one...that'll be a cheap fix for now just to get my power back...what do you guys think? I would still like to go thermoquad I think, but I'm kinda strapped right now...eventually :D

Okay guys, after trying to mess with the holley for a while tonight, I now see why so many people don't like them wven though several like them...anywho, i found these on ebay...does it matter what year the carb is for, or are they all basically the same performance-wise? Thanks a lot guys!
