wont run
Ok I've put a new motor in my Road Runner and it has ran for 15min. I've started it up and it shuts off and same over and over! Its getting gas and is in time.......... whats funny this car has no points and has a electronic ignition with new distributor. Tried again fires up then shuts off fires up then shuts off..... very confusing and idea's?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: wont run
Sounds like a failed ballast resistor. Verify with a continuity tester across the resistor with at least one of the female spades removed from terminals. If your going to buy one, I'd buy two. Keep a $6 spare in the glove box.

Re: wont run
X2 ! The ballast resistor is used on start and run. Sounds like the run half of it is bad or the terminals have a bad connection. They have been known to heat up and melt.

Re: wont run
according to his pic he has a single ballast resistor, essentially the same diagram:moparite wrote:X2 ! The ballast resistor is used on start and run. Sounds like the run half of it is bad or the terminals have a bad connection. They have been known to heat up and melt.

the only thing the image doesn't show is that the start wire is suppose to be brown
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol

Re: wont run
If you are using a pertronix system you bypass the ballast resistor hook the two wires together and fire it up. I am using that system but kept a stock appearance by replacing the resistor cord with a solid copper wire inside the ballast housing
