Heater & Antenna questions,'71 GTX

Post by gary » Sun Mar 09, 2014 3:20 pm

Hello All, I have a question on a piece of vent/duct I may be missing. Can someone send a picture of the Pass.side lower kick panel area? I believe a piece is missing from the fresh air outlet to the floor. No A/C or Strato -vent on this car. Next question : Does the (Factory) Antenna point straight up? or does it veer off slightly to the outer side like mine does. A good straight on pic would help. Thanks...

Sorry too retarded today to get the pics loaded right- day drinking on Saturday- sheesh  but here's links to the pictures.

The antenna on mine is straight up, but there is a bend just as the whip meets the threads. I don't know if that was stock or not but it tightens up in the straight up position.

the antenna should be straight up, if your angles to the side it probably has the wrong fender trim plate

You may be right Eric, Do you have a pic or Part number of the trim piece I need? I have the long and short antenna nut too. Which one do I use? I am going with a fixed mast

I bought an "Official Restoration Parts" antenna from Roseville Moparts. I believe the correct antenna would be a telescoping mast, as mine is. As I recall, it comes with a wedge-shaped spacer disk that goes under the fender. Mine turned out to be leaning a little to the outside, and I came to the conclusion thnat I needed to reposition that disk a little, but have not gotten to it. Hey, it's only been about 10 months-what's the rush.

An excerpt from the '71 FSM. Other tham a plastic outlet register on each side, nothing else to be missing. I'll try to get an actual pic when I get home.

Sorry, I haven't looked in the parts book for the original part number, but here's a photo from my car. Notice the antenna trim is sloped to match the curve of the fender. This is what adjusts the antenna to be straight. On a 71, the original antenna would have been telescoping, not a fixed mast.

Duh, my excerpt from the FSM shows for a no-heater model. I finally remembered to get a pic of mine ( a heater-no A/C-no Stratovent car. As you can see, the fresh air vent spills into the heater plenum, which is just open at the end, with no duct or register to direct the aim. Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone, I have an update on the antenna issue I had. The Bezel I bought from P.G.Classic in Canada was wrong, it made the mast lean outwards. I stopped by the Vansauto tent at Chryslers @ Carlisle and they had the correct bezel, part # CHBANT104 it fits the '71-'74 Plymouth B bodies price is 15.00 bux. I installed it with the long Ant. nut and I finally have a straight antenna for the first time since I have owned the car!!  Gary '71 GTX ,Goldleaf Met.
