NOTICE; to all Mopar owners seeking NOS parts

Post by GLR » Thu Dec 05, 2013 7:12 pm

I wanted to post a Warning and I guess this this would be the place to do it? If not, maybe someone could let me know..
Anyway... I needed a B & E body Circuit breaker for a 71 Charger that I am gathering parts for. I realize NOS parts sometimes are expensive but if a business has a listing for NOS parts and are priced on that listing they should charge that price. It is the business owners responsibility to make sure that there listings are up to date.
Anyway... CollectorsAutoSupply.Com listed the circuit braker for $38.00...but when I called they told me it was $50.00..... then they didn't give me a total with shipping that they would e-mail me the invoice... when I got the invoice I wasn't happy... for this tiny little part that weighs 1/2 and ounce and is about the size of a Mcdonalds dipping sauce... they charged me $12.00 in shipping!!!!! ...
So BEWARE OF CollectorsAutoSupply.Com ...if you can buy your parts someplace else

I have delt with them in the past. The problem is they know you need the parts. They know Mopar parts can bring top dollar. They also know that Mopar guys are anal. LOL. let me know the part number and a description and I'll check my stash. Do you have to have NOS or would used work for you? As far as the cost of shipping goes, that is tax deductable for them. So if they can charge 12 bucks to ship an item that only cost 2 bucks to ship they pocket the rest. Good Luck!

Well, the problem with used electrical parts is that either they are rusty/ corroded on the inside , contact points are burnt..etc. I have also been having problems finding nice good working power window switches and wiring.

Sometimes it's just better to buy new if you can. If I can't get it NOS, I will go to either my local parts house or somewhere well known on the net (usually yearone.com). The sad thing is, there are a lot out there who love to take advantage of us Mopar folks. Just my 2 cents.

I bought quite a bit of NOS parts from them (collectors auto supply) over the years for different mopars. I bought a couple of Nos parts for about 350.00 one part was NOS (high price but I needed it) other was a repop and did not fit well and the owner did not want to refund money after I returned it.. Luckly I paid with a C.C. and opened a case and finally got justice. Never did business with them again. That was about 8 years ago.
Another issue was Valley Vintage who is Ok, But I did not order a small grommet because they wanted 9.00 for shipping even though postage was less then 1.00 at that time, it was about 2 ounces with envelope. Have not ordered from them in a decade.

Yea, I understand completely.
I have to buy parts not only for my own cars but for customer cars also and I realize that as time goes on nice original and NOS parts are getting fewer and fewer to find and usually I don't have a problem with the cost of NOS or nice used original parts but when they try to screw you over on the shipping .
I have parts that I have either left over from a restoration or some that I bought for my cars, but sold the car and I still have parts that I don't need so when I sell them either on one of the sites that I use or on eBay I do my best to keep the shipping down as much as I can.
