Dash pad restorations

Any good places for dash pad restorations?

i got a really good looking pad from carolina dash in ohio a couple months ago. i also got two really lousy pads earlier in the year from a place in texas maybe ultimate rides or something like that. a few hundred dollars difference in price but also in quality and looks in my opinion, the extra money was worth it.

I agree, Just Dashes is probably the best out there. They are quite pricey, but I am not aware of any other competitor that comes close.

I agree, I would use Just Dashes. I tried two pads from Ultimate Rides, one had a huge gap when installed, the other didn't line up in the dash holes. They were a POS in my opinion . I wish I would have used Just Dashes. I ended up picking up a really nice original pad, it fits like a glove. But next time I do the dash pad, its Just Dashes.

Yeah, I guess I'll use them, but 750.00 for a dash pad. They bend you over.

They are expensive, but ours turned out really nice from these guys. The vinyl grain is correct and the foam they use is probably way better than the foam used when these dashes were built. joseph

Sounds like $750 is well worth it for icing on the cake. I balked at the invoice that Instrument Specialties charged for an instrument cluster, A/C vent and ash tray restoration but after I received the package I swear it is worth every penny! It's all in the details!

Oh almost forgot, I spoke with Thomas at I strumming Specialties last week and he too recommended Just Dashes for 71-74 B-body dash pads. That says a lot!

out of curiosity, at justdashes do you have to send them your old pad or do they have new ones they make?

I believe you have to send them your old one. I don't see them stocking dash pads that they don't know how long it will sit on the shelf. It's pricey but they do it the same way it was done from the factory and should last for years.

That's correct, you have to send them your dash pad metal frame. We almost threw ours away when we were tearing our 71' apart in 2007 thinking it was to ratty to be repaired. Thank goodness something made me keep it in our old barn. There is a great video on youTube that shows the process. Here it is prior to teardown and then back from Just Dashes. joseph

At carolina dash where i purchased mine they make them to order but they have original cores they rebuild. you can send them yours and they will recover it if you want, or you can sell yours back to them after you receive your new one if you prefer. I just kept my original and paid a core charge for them to use one they already had because i wanted to keep mine.

Thanks for sharing the advise fellas. Rebuilt dash pad finally arrived from Just Dashes after 3-months as estimated. So far so good. The grain, texture and color seem right on the money so far. The cost made me choke but the product is the icing in the cake!
