Headliner bow attachment
Hi: I'm about to order headliner for my 71 Sebring. Per Jim's auto parts catalog, I need 12 bow attachment clips for my car, ($15 ea). I did not remove the headliner, so I don't know if they are necessary. I do not have any of them in my parts boxes. Puzzled. Any help. Tnx: Howco71
Re: Headliner bow attachment
If you are referring to the V shaped clips, I did not use them to install my headliner. I had no issues not using them.
Re: Headliner bow attachment
Nice color on your Sebring
The clips are only needed on the last bow AFAIK

Re: Headliner bow attachment
i didn't use them - I used the 3m super 77 headliner adhesive and put clips on till the headliner dried - works awesome!

Re: Headliner bow attachment
No clips are used to attach the bows in our cars, they mount in the holes down the top side. If i remember right the holes were in a triangle pattern i guess to help stretch each headliner tight. The v shaped clips go down each side at the top of the window openings to stretch it tight side to side but as the other replies say you can install without them or make something of your own for $15

Re: Headliner bow attachment
if I had to do it again I'd buy it from legendary. I bought mine through year one - which uses PUI. Never again. The bows were sowed in the wrong spot and I'm not too crazy about the look of the sail panels, I'm not sure who Jims auto uses but I'd suggest buying the best from legendary. Its something you'll learn to hate doing lol

I agree with dangina. My headliner came from YearOne as well and it could have fit better and the sail panels didn't come with clips and they don't look the best either.dangina wrote:if I had to do it again I'd buy it from legendary. Re: Headliner bow attachment
Everybody should remember, that the sail panels are NOT covered with headliner material. And if you want a better looking head liner, you can put a 6 bow in.They changed on the late 71's to 5 bow, but the places are still on the roof, all you need is an extra bow, just looks better.

Mines a 6 bow. Will probably be the first and last H/L for me. I placed the order with Jim's A/P. Their sail panels are also covered. Will get a friend with some experience to help with the install. Hoping to have it for a couple car runs this August, if all goes right..

Re: Headliner bow attachment
Those covered sail panels look really bad.I think someone has come out with some that aren't covered. They originally had a texture to them, kinda like the package tray texture, kinda.

I purchased these sail panels from Dante several years ago....no fabric covering, no texture either. Not sure if they're still available. Lousy cell phone pic is the best I can do right now....

Yes those are the REM ones, they are bare cause they think they are supposed to be covered. I've been over this a hundred times over on Moparts. They should have had a couple of glue on things for the snaps also.I talked to REM about it, and they aren't concerned about them not being correct or even close.I had them make me some out of the material as the package tray, its not right, but a lot closer.I saw some not long that had a little texture, but not sure where, maybe Legendary. The originals were a multi layer pressed cardboard with texture similar to the package tray. But never covered with anything. What can I say, except as long as peole keep buying this junk and saying, oh, well, its good enough, they won't make the correct stuff.Eric wrote:I purchased these sail panels from Dante several years ago....no fabric covering, no texture either.
