Did original air grabber cars come with those cross bars under the hood?, not sure of the correct name, Its the bars that go from either fender to the threaded stud on the firewall..

My N96 car has them but I'm not sure if that is correct.
I've heard not on N96 cars but mine has them?

No. N96 cars should not have them, although they have been added to my car as well. They interfere with the aircleaner (although they can be bent to clear).

Hold the phone, the correct one-year only ’72 inner fender strut rods were clearanced for the N96 cars. Passenger side strut has a slight mid-strut bend from the factory. Primarily installed on big block cars only for ’72, with and without N96. ’73-74 strut rods are straight and are slightly longer c to c on the mounting holes, would need modifying to use on a ’72 N96. Buddy’s ’72 N96 RR/GTX had them when he purchased the car new, saw plenty of them on N96 cars back in the day. Also saw a lot of them in trash bins and on work benches at the dealers after servicing, never made their way back to where they belonged.

If you still have original paint on the firewall, look closely at the paint on and around the center stud, Should be pretty easy to see if they were once there.

Awe crap, No original paint, car underwent a complete rotisserie resto resto a few years ago.
Just so I'm understanding this, now they came with them? Hmmmm
They were always black right?

In my experience from the time, if it’s a big block ’72 car, N96 or not, it had them. Yes they were black, they were installed after body color painting, with body colored fender bolts removed and reinstalled when the struts were installed. Some folks have reported them originally on some 340 cars. Parts cat not real clear other than no exceptions for N96.

So with the caption "after Dec 3 1971" would that mean depending upon the production/build date of the car dictate whether the car has/had them?

Indicates the there was a change in the service replacement part number for the right side strut only, applying to production dates after Dec 3, ’71. 3574114 was replaced with 3574190.
