Yesterday at the pump

This happened yesterday ...... So, Im at the gas station and some couple in a hybrid pulls up, they end up filling their car up and finishing while im still filling mine. The woman looks over at me and gives me one of those "holier than thou" looks, so I said to her "thank you" she said what for, I said "you know all that gas you save, . . . .I use!" She looked at me and said, "you should get a hybrid." Without missing a beat I said, "this is a hybrid, it burns BOTH gas and rubber." Her husband busted out laughing.

I have nothing against hybrids. It’s great technology. It saves fuel. If you can make an economic justification for it (without a tax credit), buy one.

Heck, my daily drivers are (non-hybrid)four cylinder fuel misers that get me mistaken for a tree hugger on a regular basis. I don’t fault anyone for driving a hybrid.

But don’t go thinking you’re saving the planet in the process, and don’t judge me for keeping my older cars on the road. That’s just ignorant. That’s failing to consider the “carbon footprint” from the manufacturing and delivery processes for those vehicles (or any new car for that matter).

The greenest automotive new car purchase is simply the one not made. The manufacturers, politicians, and economists don’t like you to hear that though. Best thing you can do is keep them tuned and drive them ‘til they drop, not replacing them until you really need to do so. It works out better for your wallet too (unless you work in the new car industry).

When the opportunity presents, I do my Road Runner fuel up next to a hybrid owner just to be a sh!t.

I don't really care for hybrid vehicles. Not only because of the looks but more for the details. They may get great mileage but they are extremely dangerous to work on. Not to mention just the battery for those things Is a $1,000 and up. So basically whatever money hybrid owners save in gas they will pay for the parts, but since only the dealers or other certified shops can touch them thats even more money.

I don't dislike people who choose to have them,I just don't like the attitudes most hybrid owners have or the lack of thought for the mechanics who work on them.

something that that happened to me once.
a little boy in a 2010 or 2012 mustang told me that my car took tooo much gas for nothing. it wasnt "strong"
so i gave him that look that said Oh reallY?
so he sped off. i later saw him on the light and he gunned it . i didnt want to , but i caught up wirh him at the next ligt and we exchanged words. he called me as well as the rr dinosaurs. thats when the t rex came out of me and my rr
i told him that he should put his money where his mouth was. well two lights later that night he paid for my gas , dinner and most of all, he paid the price for running his mouth. ....... lol
