Thermoquad Intake ?
Anyone know what is a good Aluminum. Dual plane intake for a 383 fits a TQ? I have an M1 with the Eddy on it but I'm@only pulling 17 mpg on the freeway. I was getting 20 with the holley 4165 DP, but got tired of the constant adjustments it took to keep it running. So I have a TQ (6013) from a 74 360 California that should be the ticket without too much messing around. I'm stuck on which manifolds are/were availible. Suggestions and experiences anyone? I was using a stock 76 intake but don't want to put that weight back on.

BTW... if anyone knows, I wouldn't be adverse to milling out a Performer RPM to take the TQ , if there is enough meat to do so.

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
Look for a 72 or 73 stock 340/360 intake. Pretty much your best bet for a T-quad. Yes, it's heavy, but it's also pretty much hassle free on the choke hook up and no EGR to mess with.
I believe the Edelbrock Performer will except a t-quad as well. Couple different model numbers for EGR/non-EGR and port sizes. You'll do a little research to figure out which is appropriate.

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
I've used a standard performer with a TQ.
It will work, but you need a steel plate that Edelbrock sells to fit under the carb to prevent a vacuum leak.
Or a very thick, rigid gasket to keep it from blowing out, there just is not much "meat" there to support the gasket when using a spread bore carb.
Now, on a 340 or 360 the standard performer is not as good as the stock Chrysler intake!
I'd use the performer rpm, or air gap, I think they're the same intake, one just has the air gap feature.
Hope you've got a fuel bowl that doesn't leak

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
Well this is for the 383. The TQ is off a 360 but should. Be calibrated for the 383 almost perfectly.
The TQ has a slight whistle, but 5 minutes with surface plate and 600 grit sand paper tak es care of that.
They used to sell a spreadbore gasket that was 7/16 thick with inserts where the studs go. Through, that's what I always used with no problems, and and a little Yamabond 4.

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
I missed the 383 part.
Find an old holley street dominator. TQ should bolt right up.

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
Might be a moot point now. I got some crap fuel in it and it "dieseled" a couple of times and wouldn't idle worth a damn. I went back and set everythinng from scratch and it runs great. Since I know what vacuum I'm pulling at 70 I checked the vac adv, that was leaving me short 7 degrees of timing. Got that fixed and we will see. That could make the 3 mpg right there. Funny side effect was the tach no longer bounces around, and is right on at 70 mph at 2400 rpm. Cross your fingers and I hope I have my 20 mpg highway back.

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
I have a TQ on my 440. The engine is out of a mid-seventies van or motor home. It has the spreadbore intake so that might be an option. Another idea to try is to buy one of those adaptors to convert a square bore carb onto a spread bore manifold. The only thing is that it has to be installed upside down and you will need to so some drilling and tapping in order to make it work properly.
I did this with a Barracuda I used to own with a 318. The modification wasn't that hard and it worked great. It will also give you spacer.

Re: Thermoquad Intake ?
I am running the Edelbrock Performer 383 on mine, not the RPM. The Performer is set up for the spreadbore. I have it bolted to a 400.
