1974 Charger Steering Column into a 72 Satellite?

Will a floor shift Steering Column from a 1974 Charger fit a 72 Satellite conversion from column shift to floor shift?
If not, is there a way to modify, and what are the differences?

I believe the columns are the same from 71-74, differences are whether you have a auto column (on the tree), or if you go from manual steering to power (manual being the longer column). Thats wha I have experienced - maybe someone can add to it?

I'm going from an auto on the tree( in my Satellite) to an auto on the floor, both cars have power steering.

The later column steering shaft should be different as I believe the later cars had a different coupling to the gear box, “rag joint”? That said, all you need from the later floor shift column are the two different cast column head parts, they are interchangeable with the other column shift parts. Just went through another one of these conversions myself.

So as long as I have both complete columns, I can make one out of the two?

Yes, you should be able to put together the correct combination of parts for the 72’ with what you have. I’ll post a picture later of the column I just converted for my Sat project using a complete floor shift column head that had been torched off a car, picked up on ebay awhile back. Thanks.

Thanks for posting the pics, although I'm miles away from the steering column stage, I got thinking about it, and was worried the one I had may not fit for some reason.

They are pretty interchangeable. I put a 73 charger non-column shifter in a 71 Satellite that had a column shifter.
