Still here lurking

Post by Serious Satellite » Sat Oct 29, 2011 9:25 am

Even though I had to send the Serious Satellite project to the crusher (after stripping it of the engine, tranny, both hoods, and other salvageable parts..which are now in storage in Englewood, Ohio) I still lurk and read the forums. Generally without signing in.

I spent the last 2010-May of 2011 in Lawrenceville, Georgia and was looking for a Plymouth Satellite or Roadrunner 72-74 model years, when I found a 1984 Dodge Ram D250 Prospector in excellent shape. Georgia is great for no rust, and Georgians take care of their trucks!

I thought I had a 73 Plymouth Satellite in Alabama, but he wanted as much for that car without a working tranny in it and some body issues as the Dodge Ram, and there was nothing wrong with the Ram. I've driven it from ATL to Dayton many times without an issue, and it's now in Indiana with me where it's been a minor hit from other Dodge Ram owners who stop and look at it. No rust? Is the first remark I here everytime.

So, I'm still looking for a Plymouth Satty, and hopefully...soon...I can post the newest Serious Satellite project...again!

Love the site...

Beautiful truck! Someone did a lot of work putting that '93 front end on it.

Along with my Runner, I've got '76 W200,'85 D350, and '89 D250.

Good luck with your search. :?

Gas... .360 ci engine, edelbrock 4 barrel carb, hooker headers, dual exhaust, auto on the column, ac works darn well, new stereo system...

trying to find the parts for the cruise control, since that's the only thing that doesn't work on it..

The old Prospector screams...

Thinking of putting a Cummings Diesel in it, and saving the 360 for a RR or Satty project... I already have a 318 in storage...

Serious, did you post about getting rid of your satellite before or was is this the first you have said anything about it?

I'm sorry your project didn't work out. It must had been a tough decision to make knowing whether or not the car you had planned so much for was even worth it.

yep, I posted somewhere around April of 2010... there was just too much rust, too much bondo...it needed two new fenders, new floorpans front and rear, new trunk extensions, new rear quarters, and the rear valance was rusted out.. the doggone thing was filled with bondo, garage sale signs as sheet metal patches, and I should have known better. So...replacing everything would have been too labor intensive, so I ripped the engine and the tranny out, stripped all the glass and interior parts, the grille and headlight buckets, front and rear bumpers, and just had the thing taken to the crusher.

Still looking, but I'm gonna paint the Prospector, and freshen up the .360 and then find that Roadrunner or Sattelite Sebring Plus...or Satellite Sebring...or Satellite... or.... Sundance! :) I"ve already told my wife to expect it in the next year... :stirpot:

One thing's for sure, I made the mistake of working inside/out on the car..interior then exterior...so I have a brand new headliner still in box, new carpet still in box, new seat covers, new door panels, new Satellite floor mats, a throwback Craig Powerplay Quad Tape Deck, an equalizer from the same period, two steering wheels..one green, one black, a center console and the accompanying hump, and a ton of the small interior stuff like interior screws, and stuff like that.

Next time, I'm working outside, then going inside...

my mistake... I had spent a few summers reconditioning and repairing Lear Jet Interiors and jumped on the interior first... learned a "Hello, McFly" lesson there.

Yeah that's good though you chose to keep what was salvageable, all that along with the new stuff your next project should be easy not only on having the parts already but on the wallet too! Hell, you could probably make money buy selling what you don't need.

Unless your like me "I'll need this one day."*shoves useless old part in a box of other crap*
