Question about cars built for export

Post by GTXS » Thu Sep 01, 2011 7:39 pm

I would like to know if the export cars had the seat belts and shoulder harnesses. I dont know if the were mandatory everywhere then. Looking for info on these cars.

So when a car was made for export it probably was made to U.S. specs.. I'd like to know if they were available with same or different options. I like cars with rare or odd options. Way before I was interested in these cars I had a 71 SSP 838, 4sp, radio delete, white int. and sherwood green ext. I cut a hole in the cluster so I could put an 8 track there. Later i put a factory am/fm with a new bezel. LOL! That was in 1976. Sold it in 79 or 80 for 250 dollars!! What the heck was I thinking.

Every 71 export coded car I've looked at that was still close to original had the full set of belts. Most were military ordered cars.
