I see a SB stroker in the future.

Your friend has a nice stable of RR's.

I always liked my big blocks, but having a small block screamer...It's hard to compete with that. Way cool man! :D

Got the block back from the machine shop for mock-up. It'll go back this week or next for decking as well as balancing of the rotation assembly.

Cash-flow permitting, I should be assembling the short block within a couple of weeks and maybe even installing it before the end of April.

It is ALIVE!!!!!! :D

After an oil spill and major scare, we got the motor fired and cam broke in tonight.

Blew out the gasket on the filter adapter which dumped about four quarts of oil and dropped the pressure to zero for a few seconds before I got it shut down. Fortunately, no apparent damage and the break-in went fine after the clean-up.

Actually moved under its own power for the first time in over a month. Just a few feet back into the garage though.

Tomorrow night I'll install the inner valve springs. Probably be Friday (weather permitting) before I can flog it.

Nothing to see here folks. Just a stock low compression 72 spec 340. :D

So today I fired it up after installing the inner springs. Started misfiring. Found a loose plug wire. Also found a vacuum leak at the carb base. Got those two issues resolve and took it for a test drive. Runs great. Leaned on it a bit and it started to ping some. Might be due to the 89 octane I used at last fill-up. Need to dial in the ignition curve and total timing a bit better too. I had it pretty aggressive with the low compression motor.

Anyway, thanks to some help from a buddy, we got it running and cleaned up just in time to hit the big cruise-in tonight... then it started to rain.
