Wipermotor colour

Post by roelbest » Fri Mar 11, 2011 2:10 pm

Is it correct for a '72 Roadrunner to paint the 2 speed wiper motor matt black ?, or perhaps a semi gloss?
Thanks!!

Should have some gloss to the paint on your two-speed motor, not matte.

Wow, not quite flat, but not too shiny!

I suspect everything under the hood of my Runner is a touch shinier than original. :D

Yes, the 3-speed wipers were an extra cost option on the '71 to '74 cars. Chrysler changed the design of the firewall slightly so that if you had a Hemi engine in the car, or 6-BBL, 1971. You didn't need to have a 3-speed wiper setup. As the two speed wiper motor would clear the aircleaner assembly. B-bodies prior to 1971 needed a 3-speed wiper motor when you had the big toys in the car. Otherwise the 2-speed wiper would hit the aircleaner. I've seen guys put an air grabber on an early B-body, and then wondered what the rattling noise was from the engine compartment. It was their 2-speed wiper motor vibrating on the aircleaner.

Its a semi-gloss. Not a matte color :)
