I e-mailed a guy here in Georgia about the VIN number for a 74 Satty he's selling on e-bay. It seemed like a solid candidate for a rolling resto, and it's only about 50 miles from where I am, and here is what I got..
Now... I'm 54, and I've owned three 73/74 RR/Satty's the past 35 years, and I'm kinda stunned... this is the door vin for a FORD...
I've responded to the guy again, but geesh...this doesn't instill a lot of confidence, does it?

Gee Serious Satellite..I'd say NO!

Least he didn't send you a VIN off of a rice rocket or something. Hope you get the correct one.

Surely didn't mean any offense. I'm originally from Rochester, NY (a stone's throw from Ontario) and that's just how I speak!
I saw the guy's auctions and he did have a Mercury Marauder.
Any luck with that Mopar VIN?

If "eh" is offensive then so is "huh".
Ask him for a pic of the car.

Well, he answered the e-mail and things got screwed up when he uploaded the picture. He's selling a Sixty Three Mercury (wonder how I already knew that) and he got his photo upload screwed around.
I'm thinking of going up and seeing this and maybe drive it home. It's a red Satty Sebring, three eighteen with a/c, and a white interior, and it needs a complete resto. I have a white Satty Sebring Plus interior sitting in storage, with new white headliner and black carpet from the old project. It looks as though it had a white vinyl halo roof on it, which intrigues me. I'm a Hoosier, bred, born, and by degree, so red and white works darn well, but I wanted a much larger engine.
But it runs and it's a daily driver, so that's a much better start.
