'74 rear sway bar

Post by 74roadbird » Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:45 pm

Running into a glitch with my rear sway bar. I replaced my 8 1/4 with a '71 8 3/4 but now the bar lays on the carrier and the bolts don't reach the mount. According to the manuals, the same (straight) bar was used regardless of rear end. I couldn't find anything that specified longer bolts either. Anyone do a similar swap and can point me in the right direction? :help:

I collected several bars for my recent 72' resto projects. Some have taller stand-offs than others by about 1/2" inch or so. The bar I ended up using has a slight dip in the middle and has the taller stand-offs, it clears my Dana by about a 1/4". I believe it to be from a later b-body with a 9 1/4" rear originally. I passed on an opportunity to buy an original 72' Dana bar for $500 a few years back before realizing just how scarce they are, haven't found another one since.

Thanks 72RoadRunnerGTX ! The shop had it installed wrong. Now that they put it the right way, I just needed some longer mounting bushings.
