471Magnum finally got a 72 N96 car

Post by 471Magnum » Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:58 pm

Been a long time coming, but I finally scored myself a 72 N96 car.

I've had the car for almost a month now. But I wanted to get the new wheels and tires on it, as well as take care of some other issues before I unveiled it.

Sorry about the cheesy driveway pictures. I usually make it a point to get a better back drop, but I was running out of daylight, and there is rain in the forecast for the next few days. Eventually I'll do a proper photo shoot.

Anyway, it's a NOM 340 auto. Bucket seat. It is an original N96 car with the V21/V25 stripes. Restored about seven or eight years ago. It's every bit as straight in person as it appears in the pictures.

Mechanically, it's completely stock, right down to the thermoquad and cast iron manifolds. That'll do for now, but over time you can expect it to see a few changes in that department. Nothing too radical, but a set of TTI headers are already in the works.

Hasn't been driven much by the previous owner, so I'm dealing with some minor issues getting it completely road worthy. I am planning to drive it the 260 miles to Columbus next week for Mopar Nationals.

I'm sure the question will get asked, so for those who want to know, they are Centerline Telstars 15x7 & 15x8 with 235-60-15 & 255-60-15 tires. Stock springs and shocks.

BEAUTIFUL CAR...TO BE PROUD OF FOR SURE...See if you can find out how many 72 RR's came with the v21/v25 stripes??I have heard 406 but i am unsure of that number...even more rare on a small block car...

When I bought my 72 with the V21/V25 stripes the guy selling the car opened the door to his garage and said "Im not sure who put those Chevelle stripes on it"!!? I made an attempt to explain they were factory but he did not believe me one bit...LOL...
