Re: The bird is out of the nest!
Hi guys,
just wanted to tell ya I had my very first drive in my car today....Man, what a rush:-D I have never driven a classic musclecar before and finaly after 3½ years of restoring and dreaming I took it for a spin! -It's a beast
It makes the greatest noise ever, I'm looking forward to getting to know the car better.
It's got a few goodies in it: 440 with a Holley Street Dominator manifold and a Speed Demon carb. Ported and polished iron heads and a Purple cam 509/292. Hooker super comp and a 4.10 Sure grip rear end.
In other words, a great car when it comes to learning how to drive a musclecar
Still a few details to go! For one, the speedometer doesn't work. Probably the cable is bad.
Anyway, just wanted to share the experience with you guys, I hope to do a video at some point.

Yes, congrat's! Nothing like driving it for the first time!! I haven't driven my 72 for 2+ years till this weekend, and it was so new again.

"Did I just buy another car?!?"
Re: The bird is out of the nest!
Hey guys,
still no video but a few more shots. Took the car out for a spin today, thought I had fixed the speedo, but nope! Well, still was good fun:-)
The neighborhood sure woke up for a few minutes as I 'cuised' thru!

Thanks for the comments guys.
The wheels are Cragar Black D-window steelies 17x8. Heavy but they look good I think, adds a bit of Nascar flavour:-) -oh, and they don't cost much!

Love the yellow
what size tires? can we get a shot of the car from behind?
How's the 4.10 with the auto transmission? Since I have to replace my 3.55 pumpkin I'm debating going to 3.91 but have to do "some" highway driving and am thinking it might be too much gear.

@NOrrTH
The front are 225/50R17 and rear 255/50R17. I like the 50 profile tyre, it gives a nice tyre/rim proportion in my opinion and the wheelwells are filled out properly.
The 4.10 is not very highway friendly, I'm already thinking of going 3.55. I think the 3.55 would be a good compromise.
Here's a rear view. The exhaust tips are not brilliant but will do for now.

I couldn't agree more although Ive seen some exceptions like that stunning bronze custom thats on this site.Capsule wrote:@NOrrTH

This body style, which is what attracted all of us to this model, really screams for big fat old school tires....or lowered with low profiles.

Re: The bird is out of the nest!
Very nice! I had 4.10's in my '73 Charger (had a 440 in it) and I hated it. OK for driving around town but, on the highway....forget it!

Gearvendors or Keisler can solve that problem. You can have your 4.10's and gas mileage to:)
