Yes ,I caught part of it .I think it went for 50 K,Red W fac Lourve
Re: Barrett-Jackson
Yeah I saw it too. Didn't bring near as much as I thought it would, but then again, a lot of the cars today really did not bring any high dollars. The only reason that guy got the 50k is cause two guys were battling over it. There must have been some pissed off owners cause those cars were just not selling for half of what they were worth. There was an original 4 speed 440 6 pack 70 roadrunner with the dust trails and everything with a gorgeous paint job and it only brought 70k. Anyone see the superbirds and what they sold by any chance?

Here's the official result:

That car is very nice, but not perfect. Even with the status of being #1, it is still a non-numbers matching 383 car. I think the selling price was spot on, if not a little high.
Considering the dealer bought that car for less than $25K, I think he did okay. Still kicking myself for not taking the means necessary to make that car mine when I had the chance.

Re: Barrett-Jackson
He made a huge profit on that car! I can't believe it went for that much with prices the way they are now.
And yes, it's the earliest recorded LA built 71 runner, but that doesn't guarantee it's the earliest one built, and there are other known 1st day built 71 runners at the other two plants.
I wonder it Marty saw this yet.

Re: Barrett-Jackson
How many times has this car changed hands? It seems like it has changed over 3 or 4 times and everytime someone is trying to raise the price or maybe its the same guy, idk. I'm willing to betcha he thought he was gonna get more money than that for it.
The price is not that bad for it, considering there was an original tor red 1970 plymouth superbird with a 440 6 pack and 4 speed that only sold for roughly 83,000. I couldn't believe it was that low.

Re: Barrett-Jackson
Marty had the car for several years, and he's the one who had it restored. The guy who just sold it bought it from Marty a few months ago for less than half the auction price. From what I can tell, he did nothing to change the condition of the car from when Marty had it. Marty had it advertised for sale probably more than 6 months here and on moparts and no one seemed too interested. This guy just made somewhere around $30K for doing nothing....

Re: Barrett-Jackson
I've got to say that Marty did a poor job of presenting the car while he had it. I was somewhat leery given the photos he provided, and his ebay auctions were less than impressive. Marty could have done better had he put more into his marketing efforts. I know he was raising funds for another car and pretty much ran out of time looking for the right buyer.
As much as I hate seeing dealers flip cars for huge profit, at least he took the time to publish decent photos. He got rewarded for his efforts. It stings, but that's the reality.
That's a LOT of money for a 71 383 RR though... too much.

Re: Barrett-Jackson
Ha! I emailed marty about that car as well... I think he wanted 23k or something. I liked the louvres but I swore I'd never buy a car that color again.
has anyone been to the BJ auctions? I assume you all saw the damage at the other show that same weekend?
