Need to check this one out a bit closer.
Owner claims 3.91s. Wouldn't a 440 car have a Dana 60, with either 3.54s or 4.10s? Or did that change in 72?
Pretty cool combination if the car is legit.
Sorry. No link at the moment since Ebay is blocked on this particular computer.

This one?
I agree it looks pretty good but I would want to verify it’s “U†code car, nothing in the add shows that it is. There are a few things inconsistent. My understanding only 3.54:1 Dana offered in 72’, if it is a 3.91:1 likely to be an 8 ¾†and not an original U-code 4-speed car. It's missing the inner fender struts all big blocks had in 72’, 22†radiator?.

That was my point. Definitely merits further investigation.
People generally don't go to the effort of adding the "GTX" when they swap in the 440.
Don't know about the 22" rad, or any other details with regards to 72 GTXs.
I had emailed the seller a couple questions previously, and his answers were somewhat inconclusive, and borderline evasive.

And now it all becomes clear (relisted):

Somebody called him on it.
Buyer beware. This guy is obviously a flake.
I responded to a Craigslist ad on the car (listing it has a Roadrunner). Here is his response:

Yes, I see now it has been relisted with a completely different description. Vin now posted reveals a 400ci SS GTX clone. 68' 383 and 440 callouts on the fenders? Wonder if your inquiries had anything to do with it 471magnum?

My inquiries would made the other day, prior to the auction, so no I can't take credit.
Car is only a couple hours away from me. I was contemplating going to see it first hand... but not anymore.

What I find interesting about that particular car is, if the vin and data plate info posted now is correct, just how rare of a car it would be if it had been left the way it was? A TX9 bucket seat/console Satellite Sebring Plus with a 400HP and a factory 4-speed? Anybody have production numbers on 4-speed Satellites in 72'?
