Slap stick Question ?

Post by RON71rr » Sun Nov 15, 2009 4:37 pm

Hi, the shifter and all related pieces except the floor pan brackets are missing from my car. Will any slap stick set up from a 70-74 B or E-body work, bolt in and look stock ? THANKS, Ron

and late 74, they went back to the round woodgrain knob, that looks like the pre 71 piece, but it's not

the T-handle...the pre 71s used the wood round knob, then the T-handle in 71 through almost all of 74...not many 74s had the round knob i don't think

Column shifted automatics were pretty common in bench seat cars. The slap stik was not available with a bench, as it required the console.

you could put in an aftermarket auto shifter, pry a lil hard to get to while on a bench seat....best option would be to use a cheap JCWhitney (Hurst and Lokar make them too, i think) - a tall handled shifter, which would look more like a manual trans bench seat...neither will look stock or fool anyone
