Are we talking about a RR or GTX?

On a RR, it is the C-pillar stripe.

On a GTX, it is the Hood/Fender stripe.

Just in case this wasn't answered clearly for you, V8X is the code for a black reflective strobe stripe on a 71 road runner. This is the stripe that goes from the quarter panel up and over the roof. The 71 stripe has the words "road runner" cut out in the botton section of stripe and the cartoon bird above it. There was only one style of strobe stripe for 71, and it was available in three colors; black, white, and gold (all reflective).

I have to ask why you mention that?
I have older pictures of the "other" stripe you describe on my car.

I understand, that's what is currently on my car.
But, 2 different stripes were also mentioned. I have older pictures of my car with the other mentioned stripe. I also have a different than usual factory air grabber switch and a left over '70 spoiler.
I just want to know what prompted the question of a different stripe. Someone else must have seen one.

I believe there are two different kind of C pillar stripes, one for 1971 and it changed in 72. They only came on RoadRunners. GTX's had the hood fender stripes if they didnt have an air grabber. If they did they could get mid body line pin stripping.

if I'm wrong, someone here will correct me I'm sure

Yes I know its not correct for a GTX. My car was originally Sherwood green with a lower body pin stripe. Thats fine with me as I'm a resto-mod kinda of guy as long as its an improvement which, imo, the C-pillar strobe definitely is. Maybe Plymouth thought the stobe was over the top for GTX buyers? Kind of strange considering the "low keyed" flying tiger teeth in the air grabber
