71 RR Wheelhouse Vapor Canister Shield?

Post by Ronnman » Fri Nov 06, 2009 1:40 am

Does anyone have a pic of the two sheilds (shown in the pics below) installed on their car? I'm missing the lower sheild shown on the right in the pic and was wondwering where it bolts.
Thanks,
Ron

If I remember correctly, you'll find a slot in the frame rail that the wide tab on the lower shield (left side of the shield in your photo) fits into. The upper shield is attached first and the lower bolts over it.

Its an awesome place to put fuel pump
I goofed when doing my 72 , its vapor canister is in front of the gas tank
So I never fitted one in when the cart was getting painted , wish I would have been paying attention
to detail .

Is AMD repopping those ? Those first pics look like restored or new tin ..

amd is making those parts. when was your car made? mine was built in feb 72 and has canister in driver side wheel well like the 71's.

The cut over point for that 72' canister change is described as "up to Mar 72 and after Mar 72" in the 72 parts catalog. I read that as April 1. 72 for that production change. I am changing over the 72' Sat I am currently bringing back to life from the early system to the later design.
