As far as warnings go..the bolts that hold the water pump to the/through the timing cover can and sometimes do break. I got mine out by melting the aluminum water pump back with a torch until I had some stud to grab, sorry had to pay the core on that one. Also saw an article where a 70 318 was taken out of a project car and put on a dyno, with 100,000 miles on it, and a 2-barrel,the best pull was 310 horse. No flys on any 318 I ever owned. It is a great motor.

Hopefully i wont have this problem,the front of my engine cleaned up better then It should have,I think when whatever was done to the transmission they did some stuff to the engine.i have yet to find out what though.

more fun on the rebuild
if you have money you can replace all your fasteners
all new rocker assemblies and pushrods etc put all new stuff on it if you want you dont have to
and remember the break in period
also for cheap heads that are like wow!!!
