Restoration continues..'71 GTX
The shop got the car on the rotisserie, I got the suspension dropped out, the steering wheel out, and the heater core/AC box out (yeah, the GTX is an A/C car...)
The shop says that the trunk and floors should be in by the end of the month. I'm so excited!!!
Here's the plan:
Restored to correct paint, top, and interior. Changed are 4 wheel discs, either police rallyes or 17" Magnum copys (Magnums are correct for the car). It's a GY9 Tawny gold car, gold vinyl top, gold interior (anyone want to exchange for a black one?). go wing. I'm contemplating painted bumpers...
I keep forgetting to take my camera...maybe I can get the shop to send some pics...

So here's some pics from last saturday. the floors and the trunk should be fixed by the end of august. I honestly never thought I'd do a rotisserie car.

no floors, no trunk...new metal going in this week! it was more of a wreck in the floors than we suspected.

Re: Restoration continues..'71 GTX
Thanks! I'm glad I'm a visionary, as I can see where it's going...unfortunately, I also understand how long it'll take to get there. It'll probably be driven around with two seats (maybe just one) while I piece the interior together.
I gotta find a couple good swap meets. I need a rear seat. I've got a GREAT upper for the rear (black, and too nice to re-cover), and a 4-door backseat bottom ('cause I'm a doofus). I've decided to put the interior back to stock ember gold.

just think it would be SO MUCH LONGER if you chose not to buy replacement patch panels.steved wrote:Thanks! Re: Restoration continues..'71 GTX
After having not been in the GA database, and with only a bill of sale in hand, I did the paperwork and homework and got the GTX registered today!!!
woo!!
Long way to go on the car, but this was an important step.

Well, if you have anyone near the NYC area, let me know and I'll hold the seat for you. It's in pretty good shape and I have had it in storage for 15 years.
