Well, My wife and I were talking about fixing up her 74 duster (solid california car, slant six). After much discussion, we decided it would be less expensive and faster to just buy something that is much closer to being done. Especially with prices being what they are.
So we decided to sell her duster and hunt for something else. She actually sold the duster at Iola (I am proud of that girl) while I was working. We ended up losing only 300.00 dollars in the deal. I figured we were golden, because I drove the heck out of that car over the last 2 years. It was actually smoother and more comfortable to drive than her 2005 neon, but she just didn't like to be seen is an unfinished car (apparently it is not a badge of courage like it is for the rest of us).
Well, I found a 72 demon on ebag, no reserve. I could not believe what it was about to sell for, so I jumped in and I think we got a great deal.
Originally a 318 car, it now has a built 360 in it. I drove it back 11 hours from near Detroit! It is a solid Georgia car, but it does have some issues(but don't we all). I am guessing that I won't get to drive this car as much as I did the duster.
Plans include putting A/C back in the car and have it be our cruiser, while my RR will continue to be the once a week bruiser.

Funny story about our drive back....
The car had no brake lights, and the wipers did not work (You know it rained several times on our way home). My wife followed me closely in her neon all the way home.
After going around Chicago and Milwaukee, we decided to pull over and eat near Jefferson WI. We got back on the road after dinner and we came up on a stop light in a 4 lane area just before the highway on-ramp. As I put my foot to the pedal to stop for the red light I realized I had no brakes. I pumped with still no action. Just before rearending the cars already at the intersection, I spun the car sideways and came to a stop just before the stopped cars. My wife slid up next to me and almost T-boned her own car, with her own car. Now that was exciting!
On another note I had a guy pull up next to me on the highway, that wanted to talk about my wifes car.....at 70MPH! He was in a beautiful newer Impalla (black)....He loved the car and just had to tell me about it.
Its a crazy world.

Rogerlee,
Did I every mention that I drove my 72 RR all the way from Boise to central WI? That was 16 hours through the mountains. It actually took 3 days because I was struggling with some electrical issues (like when I turned on the headlights the car would die) nothing too serious.

I purchased the car (wife's demon) about an hour west of Detroit. Reminded me a lot of home (middle of nowhere).
