72 RR w/ code V21

Post by 706pkvert » Thu Jun 19, 2008 12:24 pm

Hi,

I have located a 72 RR with air grabber and the fender tag says only v21 (not v25 also) does this mean that only the hood had the stripes? Were the hood and deck stripes available seperatly??

Thanks
Mike

Welcome to the nest.
Is it a Winsor built car?

All 1972 RR's with V21 also had V25 (it was just not put on the fender tag to save room).
You could also get the V21/V25 hood /deck stripes on any 2-door Satellite (S, SS, SSP) not just on N96 Road Runners.

That was my reason for asking if it was a Winsor car. So far, I've not found a Winsor car coded V21 that also had V25 on the tag (and I have several examples)...in contrast, every St Louis car I have on record with V21 also has V25 on the tag.

yes it is a Winsor built car. Does that make a difference as to hood stripes only?

Thanks

No, what I'm saying is that for some reason Winsor did not code the V25 on the tags (only the V21)

1972RM23 said its was to save room...

So than would this code that isnt put on the tag be put on the build sheet?

all St Louis cars to have the V25....more likely it's a quirk of the Winsor build plant....not the first (F81 on 71 cars comes to mind)......
It should show on the broadcast sheet

I know this post is kinda old but I was looking at my fender tag on my 71' and has the code V21 but does not have V25 on the fender tag and it is a St. Louis built car. What is the V25 code meant for?

While were talking about stripes, I was wondering what cars came with the blackout stripes that go around the tail lights and down the rear valence? Did you have to have the exhaust tips to have these stripes or could you get them with the turn down tip exhaust? My car was sold in california so it has the noise reduction package and turndown tip exhaust.

V21 always means hood tape/stripe.
For 1971 V21 meant Hood performance tape which was the tape stripes in the hood accents.
For 1972 V21 hood also got V25 deck stripes but V25 never was used on the fender tag.

What are deck stripes? Were they the ones that ran from the stripes in between the accents and down the side of the fender?

V25 deck stripes for 1972 were on the rear trunk lid.

AS FAR AS I KNOW IT SHOULD SAY ON THE BUILD SHEET. I HAVE THE SAME OPTION ON MY 72 NOT ON THE FENDER TAG BUT BROADCAST SHEET
