Old Junk

Post by DixieSatellite » Sat Mar 15, 2008 10:46 am

Hi,

Amazing what you find when you clear out old junk. I was throwing out a bunch of stuff and found this modified '71 RR I made this back in 1996 when I was trying to figure out what my car would look like when restored (car was in TN and I was in Japan). I left the vinyl roof off (lazy) and the parking lights, but I did mod the rear bumper to a '72 from a '71 w/ modeling putty. The paint is coming off now, but it held up pretty well in that box all those years. You get the idea, anyway.

It is now 2008 and the real SSP is still not finished.

P.S. It has the Argent Silver, you just can't see it...

Hi,

Good point - I never looked at it like that

Based on my current track record, look for this baby being completed around 2025...

If you need help restoring your model, I may be able to help. It looks to b an older promo style kit. I can help you with parts.

Hi Moparmodeler,

Thanks for your post and offer.

The kit is in fact a Monogram 1971 RR kit. I bought 2 (back in 1997, come to think of it) when I was visiting TN and stuffed them in my luggage. I wanted to see what the car would look like and use the 2nd 1971 RR kit for a different color (I think it was Teal w/ white interior or something). I didin't have Magnum 500s as I didn't buy the Monogram Ford Mustang that was available at the time. I still have the 2nd RR in a box in the cupboard, unbuilt. This too will become a Satellite no doubt. I have thought a few times about picking up and modding one of those cheap 1/25 th RC cars.
