Why are our cars underrated??

Why are our cars underrated??
I have always been confused by why the 71-74 B-body were never as big of hits as other mopars (ie Cuda, earlier B-body's, etc.) I think the design of our cars is beautiful, tough, and sexy. Yet it seems all the other mopars get the attention, and command the high prices. While our cars only seem to only demand good money when they are very rare like a Hemi model. Yet you have a hacked together Cuda AAR clone and its worth $40k+. Any ideas why this is?

Everyone else is STUPID.
Really I have no clue, I have a soft spot for C body models too. Not all but some do speak to me.
I like Mirada's also. Put in a stoked 360 can you say sleeper?
If they were just as popular, they would cost more and used or NOS parts would dry up faster but more repop stuff and sheet metal might start to show up.
Its a two edged sword I guess.

Right now, the best thing that is happening to us is that the "most desirable" cars are quickly becoming the most unobtainable. Even 74 Cudas are whoopin' us in value in some cases. HOWEVER, I've noticed a trend for our B-bodies (even us 73/74 guys) that the values have taken a slightly faster upward turn than they were a year ago. I'm starting to see cars like mine going for over $10,000 and a few have been closer to $20,000 if they're super clean. As the other cars get overinflated in price, the demand for ours will go up, it's just the way it works.
Anyway, that's strictly from a dollar value perspective. My car gets tons of attention from people that just know it's a cool and unique car. They don't care what Uncle sam did to them from 72-on. That's enough to make me happy, and I don't much mind that my car is worth a few more bucks today than it was yesterday. It's like earning interest, only I can drive this account around town!

Well thats easy,
71-72 have more horse power, have better lines, are true muscle cars, after 72 they are all wanna bees, living off the past glory days.
Just ranking the chain, LOL kidding around U know. I know HP was already going down by 71.
I appreciate the 73/74 also. There are some awesome ones on this site.
I'd trade my 71 for some of them in a heart beat.
Everyone has there own taste. Give me a 73 Newport 4 door or a 71 Polara 2 door, Just me I guess thats what I like. But I own a 71 RR.
If I was Jay Leno I'd have a garage full of different Mopars.

Amen to that!! I love the c-body's of the early to mid 70's!! I have often looked at a clean Polara or Newport and thought real hard about buying it. Some of these cars can be out right stolen now!! For example I saw an estate sale with a 1972 Polara 4 door that was in mint condition with only 23k miles, garage keep, and looked new, and they had it for sale for $2300 and it took like over a month to sale, I heard they got like $1500 for it. I guess it just goes to show some of us have different tastes. I wish I had a huge bank account, and a big shop, it would be full of one off weird cars.

You know, when I bought my first Runner in about 86 or so, I was out scouting for Mopar parts and came across a satty, same year as my Runner. I bought it as a parts car, but the guy also had a Chrysler 300H Hurst or something, it was white with gold stripes. I'm pretty sure it had a 440 in it. It was sitting behind the guy's garage but it wasn't for sale. I thought the car was really cool, and always wondered what happened to it. I've never seen one like it since. I've also owned a 76 Volare Runner with a 360, and numerous 2 and 4-door satty's, and a Magnum. I loved them all.

Anyway - that 300 H is SWEET. I love that! Chrysler had such dramatic and organic lines to their cars. How quick were those from the factory with the Hemi? One of those options packages where you could take a sedate car and make it into a firebreather...
Part of it could be that they came at the tail end of the muscle car heyday. HP rating was down, insurance was up, production numbers dropped... They ended up kinda being orphans that not many wanted. FWIW though, just remember that John Herlitz who designed the car thought it was some of his BEST work!
