71-72 Engine call out color.

Post by 471Magnum » Mon Feb 25, 2008 1:50 pm

Long term, I planning on installing an Air Grabber set-up on the “new” GTX, but in the short term, I want to “correct” the hood call out. It has “440” call outs, but I’m going to change them to “440+6”.

What color should the engine call-out decals be on the hood “scoops”? What’s the rule? Does the V8* stripe factor in?

I know both white on black, and black on white were available.

In my case, I’ve got a black car, with white V21 stripes. Call-outs on the car are currently black on white, and I’m guessing that is correct.

I’ve seen both combinations on both years on various body color and stripe combinations with seemingly no rhyme or reason.

Who’s the best source for these? Does anyone besides Year One carry them? I don’t see them listed on Phoenix Graphics’ website.

My understanding is Black with White letters is 71, White with Black letters is 72.

That's what I thought too, but then I've seen several 71's with the black on white.

Moparlar is correct.
You do see a lot of incorrectly redone cars out there, mainly 71s with 72 colors....the stripe companies make them both ways. It's something I need to correct on my own car (the butterscotch one)

Okay... back to part 2 of my original post.

Does anyone beside Year One sell them?
