PG Classic Air Grabber Kit

Post by 471Magnum » Sun Feb 24, 2008 7:50 pm

So how complete is this kit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 37989&rd=1

Is there anything else I'd need other than a hood and vacuum can?

Anybody got a Satellite hood they want to sell, or trade (within a resonable radius of Evansville, IN) towards a GTX/RR standard hood?

I wish I had a satellite hood to trade you.. I would do it in a heartbeat. Seems like if you can you should save the original hood just incase. Just a thought.

I bought the bubble and door from them. Anyone got any ideas how to rig the door to stay open all of the time? There is no air grabber underhood stuff. This is just for appearance sake. Trying to figure out how to make it stay open.

I just saw this auction for a hood on ebay. The item number is #350029706676 I know it is not in Indiana but if the price is right
Fed ex will get it there. Good Luck.

You need all the fasteners the ones for the bubble, hard to find and pricey. You need the fasteners that hold the oval seal to the box. The seal that goes around the door and the pair for the sides of the door. You also need a switch bracket and a bezel. Oh! and the decals.I know there are a couple more smaller parts I'm forgetting, like the air cleaner. You will have to spend close to $500 more to get it done right. There's nothing like an Air Grabber! I didn't see a hinge either, so add a bit more.

1970-72 340, 383, 400 and 440 4-Barrel with fresh-air hood for B-body. 383 and 400 baseplates are different and sit higher on the carb than the others.

I've actually got a 6 BBL set up, but with the non-AG base.

The AG is a long term project. I'm just putting a shopping list together at this point.

Yup, that's the non air grabber base. The ones for a fresh air hood didn't have the shield on the front.

Yeah, thats the non-fresh air one, but it will still work in an air grabber, I've seen lots of them that have the wrong one, but they still work.

This is a parts list provided to me by a friend. I need to compare it to the PG Classic kit.
  • Air grabber conversion:
    Hood
    hood bubble
    hood bubble door
    door hinge
    bottom of hood air box
    air box seal
    air box seal clips/bolts
front air box door and hardware
    vacuum actuator
    actuator spring
bracket welded to hood for actuator
    hose kit
    6 hose kit clips
    vacuum can with correct bracket
vacuum T in intake to feed can
air grabber switch, bezel, bracket, light
actuator solenoid relay ( not needed, as you can close door by flipping switch) (you will need bracket for the solenoid that mounts to switch if you use solenoid)
    air grabber hood decal
air grabber decal for hood bubble door
4 bell nuts for rear of hood bubble
    misc fasteners
    air cleaner base-
Air cleaner lid, filter. filter decal. pie tin (71)
This might good info for the tech archive.
