Hello from a new member, 1971 Roadrunner Owner

Post by erocktica1 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 7:42 am

Greetings all.
I just purchased my completely restored 1971 Roadrunner a few months ago after a couple years of wanting one. I wanted the 71 because it being the last year of the true muscle car era and its racing history.
This is a very nice original color Alpine White GW3 car with black interior TX9. She is a non-matching 440 / 4 speed car that came out as a 383 manual floor shift. As you can see, this is one of around 200 factory power moon roof cars. Everything works, all guages, moon roof and the AM radio.
I was very concerned about getting a real RR and not paying for one and getting a clone. There is nothing wrong with a clone if you are aware it's one and paid a reasonable price accordingly. The dash RM23 VIN on mine matches the fender tag and I slso foung the 6 digit sequence number stamped into the firewall. Can anyone out there tell me other locations to look on the frame and body for these stamps?

Thanks,

Dale

Welcome Dale! Another white RR from North Carolina? Cool! So do you get to the shows at Farmington and Piedmont? VIN is stamped in the cowl as you mention as well as the core support--typically toward the driver's side on the surface parallel to the radiator. Decal on the door should have VIN on it too.

Let's SEE some pics!

Sorry guys. I'm new and thought they went up. I'll try again. I just took my runner out today and drove a few miles before polishing her up and putting her in the garage. Of course, with my 2.4 GHz cameras I can check on things from the house or just admire the classic lines from afar.

Lets see if this works.

Welcome to the Nest ...cool car!

The radiator core support will have your vin number on it also (well plant letter and last six digits).
All sunroof cars had full or canopy vinyl tops ... looks great without one but the factory put them on.
Also I noticed a few more things if you are concernered about a correct car.
Sweet car though!!!!!

The one picture really shows the Strobe stripe in the alternative color view. I really like that look, and this car is great.
