71 GTX P6XW interior

Post by 471Magnum » Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:58 pm

I'm kicking the tires on a 71 GTX that is coded for the P6XW interior. The car has white vinyl with cloth greyish inserts.

Never seen a GTX with this interior before.

Was this a regular option, or special order?

Awesome graphic! Do you have the corresponding Plymouth one? I'd love to see the orange and black swatch! :D

Here is a link and even though its a cuda & challenger site it covers the interior codes.

I know P5 = Premium Grade Cloth & Vinyl Buckets and P6 = Premium Grade
Vinyl Buckets so it seems doubtful that car should have any type of cloth inserts.

Here is a pic of my P5X9 car. I'm still trying to find pics of another GTX with that cloth interior to find out how rare it is on GTXs

{edit} AZ-Nick's GTX is a P6XW. I have seen a few other P6XW online but most I see are P6X9

I have several P5-- cars on record, also P3-- (the cloth bench seat option), mostly GTXs.

The P6--- is the most standard GTX interior, vinyl buckets.

Can't say how "rare" they are, but I know of one other GTX that came with that interior--Jeff Brown's Sassy Grass X, and one Road Runner--my buddy Max's hemi 4-speed car.

Almost looks like someone has sewn their bath towels into the seats, don't it?

I haven't seen it in person, so what you see is as much as I've seen.

Looks like someone replaced the seat centers with cloth, definitely not factory. Also, the hood callout decal is wrong.

Hmmm interesting that GTX seems to be missing its trim that goes under the passenger doors and runs from the front wheel opening to the back wheel.

There is a lot with the car that isn't quite right, but most of what I've seen is easily fixed. I've got more digging to do yet, but thus far the interior was the only real mystery.

Missing the rocker moldings though. Dang.

If the situation develops further, I'll share some more details.

I'm sure you know those rocker moldings are impossible to find... and the seats? Doesn't look factory to me! But if you want a DRIVER, doesn't look like too bad of a car in those photos in spite of the glaring errors. My questions would be is it solid, does it run well, and is the price right for what it is?

no plymouth ones

But on that seat chart it's missing the orange and black interior, and the SE interiors. So now I have to find that chart. I know the SE interiors come with cloth inserts. It could be a factory white one?

According to the 71 satellite brochure the cloth interior only came in black.
