Hello all,
I just got of the phone with Auto Metal Direct (AMD) and they told me that they are planning on having quarters available the second quarter of this year. This means possibly in June, according to the person I spoke with (Dennis, I think was his name). Anyway, I hope to God this is true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From talking with them in person a couple times last year, and seeing what they've come out with so far, I have no doubt they will have them out this year. What he's telling you is still in line with what he told me last year.
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!

That's disappointing since he told me and my restoration shop that they would be out the first quarter of this year. He said to expect them in late feb. or early march. I don't think I can wait until june. It shouldn't be a surprise I guess. I'm going to assume that june means june of 2010 at this point.

I talked with Dantes a week or so ago, he assured me that someone is tooling the molds as we speak for qtr extensions..................lets keep up on this.
I hope this ain't like that fiberglass hood place in Florida.......I can't think of the name..................but a couple years ago I was restoring a 69 Dodge and I was wanting a lift off hood. Well, everytime I called they would always say.....we've almost got the mold finished, just a few more weeks............well that went on for over a year. I finally decided to go another route, as far as I know....they neve did get the hood finished.

I talked to AMD yesterday and they said the panels were supposed to be in production in Dec. but got delayed. He told me second quarter for production also. He said the molds are ready to go, but they couldn't decide where to cut them off at. Sounds like BS to me. I think that the musclecar "recession" has them thinking twice about making them. At this point I wouldn't hold my breath.

Well, I just got back a response from my bi-annually pestering email to Laysons about their '71 quarter panels. According to "Archie Pieplow" he stated "...the test-fit phase is over and these patches are actually in production now, with an expected arrival in the late spring this year. There are often long delays with these production parts so I wouldn't count on them until the fall, possibly later but I hope not".
Translation: We have no f-ing idea when they'll be ready!
Could it be possible that the same company actually producing these is also producing them for AMD? Sounds like they are looking at same release date.

AMD is the one's actually manufacturing these parts. I'm sure Layson's is just going to be a distributor (with poor customer service as an added perk).
