Re: What happened to the Nest?
Hey guys - yeah, I still exist. The last few years have been a crazy roller coaster for me both in professional and personal sides of life (long story, and still ongoing on both counts). I know I haven't been around here at all - completely MIA really. Project Blue Bird feels the same pain - I haven't really touched in in years... :/
Sorry the site was gone for so long. We (my company) has been struggling with some issues with the hosting server on which the Nest lives. That's why it's been up and down a bit lately. This most recent time, things were bad enough that we didn't even get notification of the issue for a bit....
For the geeks of the group - the MySQL database engine was incredibly angry, and not even giving us logging to help diagnose what is wrong. Long story short, we stumbled into something that allowed the database to work again, so the site is up to stay again... However, I'm in the process of moving the Nest completely off this hosting server to its own dedicated environment. (We are also moving other sites off this server too - it's time to decommission the entire environment). So there may be a short outage at some point in the not too distant future as we do a cut-over to the new server - but that should only be a few hours at most (mostly while DNS propagates).

Re: What happened to the Nest?
Thanks all! I know I'm a pretty private person - and when things start to be stressful, I tend to isolate myself even further than normal...
Anyway, just a quick update - I've gotten the new server up and running, and I'm doing some last testing around it to make sure everything looks good. Once I'm sure it's 100% stable, I'll put the board here into maintenance mode, and then transfer the database one final time, and start pointing domains at the new server. Looking forward to having it on it's own dedicated server!

Re: What happened to the Nest?
I'm happy its back and hope its stays. It took a while for me to break my habit checking in everyday to see if it was alive, now I have got to get back in the habit of checking everyday again

Is there any resolution, or workaround for the Photobucket site wanting $400/year for me using them to attach pictures to these boards? Will we be able to add images straight from our computers? No way I'm gonna pay Photobuced $400 a year.

Re: What happened to the Nest?
I know you're asking about direct uploads, which I can't help with... but while you are waiting on that to be answered, you might want to take a look through your free pic hosting options:72Rdrnner wrote:Is there any resolution, or workaround for the Photobucket site wanting $400/year for me using them to attach pictures to these boards? You might also contact your ISP... mine provides a small amount of space that I can FTP to for pics & small file uploads. Your mileage may vary there...

Thanks, I'll check that out. Bad part is, trying to figure out what each and every one of the images I posted, that were in my Photobucket account were.Midnight_Rider wrote:I know you're asking about direct uploads, which I can't help with... but while you are waiting on that to be answered, you might want to take a look through your free pic hosting options:72Rdrnner wrote:Is there any resolution, or workaround for the Photobucket site wanting $400/year for me using them to attach pictures to these boards?
