Is This Hood Latch / Release Correct?
I recently bought the same item in an ebay auction without being able to look at my GTX, as it's in storage. However, The illustrations in both the 1971 and 1972 Service Manuals are different. Mainly the primary release handle as far as I can see.
Can anyone look at this pic and tell whether it is correct? On this one, the primary release is the ~5/16" diameter rod. It doesn't show because of the bracket it's protruding through, but the rod has a 90 degree bend at the end with about 2" worth to grab and pull downward on. This pic is upside-down.
My GTX actually has the remote release, but the cable is broken and at the time I was not sure I could find a new one.
Thanks,
Mark

Reading betwen the pics, the answer is yes, it's correct. Right now, my broken cable is hanging out thru the same area. Thanks, Eric.

I have a couple of used cables if you want to hook it back up.

Thanks, Larry. I have one on backorder from Classic Industries. Perhaps I could cancel that. The correct one for a 71 is the chromed handle that sits horizontally. Is that what you have? If so, how much do you want for it? Send via private mail if you prefer. I don't care either way.

Good price if not beat up. I'd have to call Classic tomorrow to see if my order can be canceled.
