My 72 doesn't have a trunk lamp. Thinking about adding one. Found some NOS units as well as some used one. I've researched the wiring diagram and I see where it plugs into the harness. I've located the plug on my harness.
But I can't see where/how the lamp is switched. There is no inline switch indicated on the wiring diagram. No ground lead on the lamp assembly itself to switch the ground side.
Does the ;lamp assembly have an internal switch?
trunk lamp... where's the switch?

Internal to the bulb socket. I think it's just a ball bearing the flops in and out of position across the a contacts.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Thanks.
Anybody got a picture showing it mounted to the deck lid? Want to make sure I attach it to the correct location.

Perfect. I see you have the remote trunk release. I'm installing one as well. Figured it would be easier to pull both those wires at the same time.

Yea, one of those “modern” conveniences, along with power windows and door locks, I retrofitted into the car during the resto, interfaced into the alarm system remotes as well. Sometimes I can’t believe how lazy I’ve become over the years when it comes to keys and window cranks.
