My 71 RR steering wheel is shot. I have a 72 Satellite wheel that is nice, and appears to be the same.
1) Is the wheel itself the same?
2) The horn pad / center: (I do not have this in front of me right now) My 71 RR has a steering wheel center in the trunk that is missing a round center emblem. It looks like it would take the emblem that my 72 has on the wheel. From what I've seen listed for that emblem, It is for 72 and up. I saw someone selling a horn center on Ebay that they listed for a 71 RR, and it says "Plymouth" in a larger script across it. So what is correct for this wheel pictured below?
Thanks,
Brian

Re: 71 RR Steering wheel interchange question
depends...could have been the woodgrain insert style with plymouth script (or dodge).....or, could be the full vinyl/plastic style with the little round emblem that could be the plymouth emblem (like on your header panel), or with the little roadrunner head
Re: 71 RR Steering wheel interchange question
1. That is the delux steering wheel. It will interchange with 71. For it to be "correct" for your car, you'd have had to have A87 on your fender tag, or a bucket seat interior, or an H--- coded bench interior (and not coded for tuff or rimblow wheels)
2. For a 71 runner it should have the small round center with road runner decal (photo attached). The large Plymouth script center on woodgrain is correct for GTX and SSP. Lower line Plymouths had the round metal plymouth emblem center on this wheel. The standard wheel that came on M--- bench cars was completely different.

Re: 71 RR Steering wheel interchange question
Okay then, this all makes sense...My car is an A87 vehicle....so this 72 wheel is correct...Sitting on the floor I found the steering wheel center, missing the emblem. The center looks very useable, but someone swiped the emblem
Year One showed no emblems like that for a 71....of course they are not always the best reference. Is the emblem the same as 72? If not, any ideas where I may find one.....
Thanks,
Brian
