NOS Door Handles?

Wonder if you all can help me out, I'm trying to find a nice set of door handles for my kid's car we're restoring. I found a guy that has a set but the part number doesn't look right. I checked my sorces and can't find 3882628. They look a little different also, they have a recessed area on the flat side. I thought the originals (like the pitted ones on my kid's car) were smooth? Were these maybe for a later model 4 door or something?

yes they have a recessed area on the flat side. the originals

my 72 mint ones are part number 3586025 they came off a 4door b-body they are the same as 2door ones

Yup, the ones you're describing are later model ones. I've seen a restored car with these on it, and they just looked wrong! I'd keep looking if I were you.
