I believe the elastomeric bumper jack hook was the same one as used on chrome bumper cars. I know of an original painted bumper car, and I have someone checking on it....let you know what I find.

ACCORDING TO THE PARTS BOOK FOR 1971 IT SHOWS THE STEEL BUMPER HOOK #3436 960 AND THE RUBBER BUMPER HOOK #2962 491 FOR PLYMOUTHS. I HAVE A RUBBER BUMPER HOOK FOR A CHARGER SUPERBEE AND IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE STEEL BUMPER HOOK JUST A DIFFERENT #2962 490, SO THE PLYMOUTH HOOK MAY LOOK JUST LIKE THE STEEL HOOK WITH A DIFFERENT NUMBER. ANY PICTURES WOULD BE GREAT OF THE HOOK IN QUESTION YOUR FRIEND HAS.
THANKS

Hey Smossb
Took me awhile but I finally have an answer for you. I have not seen it in person, but have it verified that the original rubber bumper jack hook recently pulled out of a rubber bumper sebring is the same as the standard hook. Same paint color and shape. The only difference is that there is no part number stamped in it....makes absolutely no sense to me that they'd have done this (but it's not the first time what ma mopar did doesn't make sense)!

THANKS
The plymouth number is 2962490
The parts book also list this as "HOOK w/PAD use w/body colored bumpers"which would make sense as a plain steel hook would easily damage the rubber bumpers.
I would be very interested in seeing a photo of the hook with this part number.

Its not numbers matching
It doesn't run on pump gas
And it doesn't purr like a kitten
