newbe question

Post by fourforty6pac » Wed Feb 14, 2007 5:41 pm

I first of all want to say hi to all. I've been lurkin for awhile and decided to enter the nest. Im sure there alot of purists here that will think this is a bad idea but here goes anyway. I have a 72 ssp that has no chance of being original. It came without a motor or trans, but was otherwise complete. Over the past 10 months I have been collecting new and NOS parts as well as good used parts. One thing that I bought is a overhesd console for an e body, I'm thinking of putting it in my soon to be GTX clone. I have all the wiring and brackets for the ovehead console. I think it would look nice in there and it is a mopar part. I wouldnt go to these extremes but I have given up on finding a 71 drivers aid package again. What do you guys think about this idea?

Hi, welcome to the nest,I think since you said it wont be original anyway its better than junking the car. ssp's are nice,I think they are few.I would keep it an ssp and throw in a nice engine, install the overhead console make it a sleeper. 8)

Wow! that looks better then I thought it would. Looks like it belongs there. I need to find a better lense for mine, Thats not an easy task. The last one I saw on the bay was nos and it went for 350 and thats just for the lense. I dont mind ssp's but I think if someone was going to restore a ssp it should be numbers matching in order to bring top dollar. When I was a young stud I had a 71 ssp w/383 4sp. white bucket interior. I wish I would have kept that one, but I had to sell it so I could get a sweet 71 sassy grass RR. I have all the parts to turn this thing into a sweet GTX, complete interior black and orange, carpet, headliner, upper and lower door panels, sail panels, package tray, ect, ect.
I looked on my puter for some pics and I realized that the only pics I have are close ups of the parts that I removed from the car for reference. If I go up north this weekend I will snap some pics and post them.
The only big part I need is a 72 440 block. I have a line on one but its not an HP block, that is not a problem but it would be nice to have a HP.
Heres a pic of a standard RR hood I think I will use it as my avatar if I can figure out how. Why you mght ask? Well just because.

Just checking but I have to ask anyway. Were they in the same years 70 to 74? Thanks.
